For quite some time now, whenever I leave the motorway on my way home, I’ve noticed a new bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. Its architecture has always reminded me of Paris, even though the footbridges there don’t look quite so modern. Who knows what trick my memory has played on me here.

It is a suspension bridge spanning the approach tracks to Heidelberg railway station for trains from Mannheim or Frankfurt. These immediately catch the eye with their gentle curves, points and crossings.

With the warm sun shining between late afternoon and early evening, its chill making itself keenly felt, I photographed this building from many angles and using a variety of settings. At times, the cloud formations seemed tailor-made for a photograph.
